fairtrade in uppinghamThe Uppingham Town Partnership successfully applied for Fairtrade Town status in 2013.

With Fairtrade you have the power to change the world every day.

With one simple choice you can get farmers a better deal. And that means they can make their own decisions, control their futures and lead the dignified life everyone deserves.

Fairtrade is about better prices, decent working conditions and fair terms of trade for farmers and workers. Their Community also benefits as they are given cash to help in community projects like building schools and roads.

Fairtrade supports small scale farmers and workers in the developing world who are marginalised from trade in a variety of ways. Ensuring they are paid a fair price for their crops.

We have produced a Fairtrade Directory and hope that in the future more shops and businesses will stock/use goods that are fairtrade.

The Fairtrade Foundation is the national body championing awareness of Fairtrade and their web site has a wealth of information on the subject. Click on the link for more details
